How far would you go to enable local older people to lead more fulfilling lives ?

Chief Officer Salary £23,708 pro rata for 22.5 hours per week

Based here in the attractive market town of Bromsgrove in North Worcestershire, with a budget in excess of £200,000 and a fantastic team of 17 employed staff, 65 volunteers and 35 Houseworkers, Age Concern Bromsgrove & District is acknowledged and respected as a key partner when it comes to meeting the needs of local older people.

As well as the usual excellent management, business and personal skills we need a new Chief Officer who will go at least that extra mile.

In the past few years our Chief Officer has:

• Introduced a range of new low level preventative services including an innovative ‘housework brokerage’ scheme and a unique ‘fast track OTT assessment’ scheme

• Negotiated responsibility for the use of a community centre dedicated to the needs of local older people and used this as a base to lead the development of a continuum of ‘day activity’ and ‘day care’ services

• Supported the further development of good relationships with District and County Councils and with local Community Health and Social Care teams

• Participated in the establishment of a strong partnership of Age Concerns [and increasingly other VCS organisations] tendering for the delivery of quality services across the County

• Actively supported the development of strong and active infrastructure organisations at both District and County levels and a vociferous local Action Group for Older People

• Displayed a previously unrealised competency in a range of counselling, caretaking, barista, and IT support roles

If you could –

• pick up all of this and take it on again into a new decade characterised on the one hand by the personalisation agenda and on the other by the move from block purchased services to community enterprise

• be flexible and innovative in your approach to working with older people

- then we want to hear from you.
