Objects

The Object of Age Concern Malvern & District is to promote the relief of elderly people in any manner which now is or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable within the Malvern Hills District.

Organisation

Age Concern Malvern & District is governed by a constitution adopted by a special meeting of the charity on 17th July 2000. The Board of Trustees in its entirety was elected at the Annual General Meeting on 24th May 2001, which was the first to be held under the new constitution. The Board consists of the Honorary Officers (currently Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer) and up to six members. Additionally, the Board may co-opt up to three additional members during the year, such appointments terminating at the next AGM. Trustees normally serve for three years, with one-third retiring each year. Trustees are eligible for re-election to serve for a maximum of six consecutive years. However, for the first five years under the new constitution, it was decided by lot which trustees could serve for 4, 5 or 6 years.

The Board of Trustees meets at least quarterly, and has the general control and management of the policy and administration of the charity. Authority is delegated to the Chief Officer, who in turn controls and manages the other members of staff and volunteers.
