Volunteering with Age Concern Bromyard & District Print E-mail

Working with Age Concern can be very rewarding whatever your age or experience. We offer a range of services to our clients and would not be able to do so without volunteers. Volunteers are the life blood of the voluntary sector.

Your time, skills and enthusiasm can make a huge difference to the lives of older people. You can give as much or as little time as you wish and we offer training and support for all activities.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. For younger people, this could form a valuable part of your Duke of Edinburgh's Awards scheme. If you are unemployed, we can offer work experience which will give you useful skills and make you more attractive to potential employers.

As you will be working with older vulnerable people, you may need to complete a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check as part of your induction process. This is free and we can guide you through the simple process.

At the moment we have vacancies for the following:

  • Befriending - to visit clients who are isolated or lonely.
  • Footcare - volunteers willing to be trained by a podiatrist  to deliver nail-cutting to older adults in our offices in Broad Street Bromyard
  • Reception - to be a friendly and welcoming first point of contact for callers, whether by phone or in person, to take messages and refer people on for information and advice.
  • Information & Advice - to answer questions on a wide range of topics on which we provide advice to the public. Training is provided.
  • Benefit Applications - to help older people with benefit applications either in their own homes or at our offices in Broad Street, Bromyard. Training is provided.
  • Specialists - we welcome professionals able to offer specialist information & advice services once monthly. We particularly welcome lawyers willing to offer a once monthly will writing service, adults with experience in counselling and therapeutic work, and adults with professional financial or welfare benefits experience.  All of these enable us to plan free, specialist clinics to support more vulnerable adults. Please do consider offering us your expertise.
