Helping us to help others

Helping us IN KIND

Could you spare a couple of hours a week – at a time convenient to you?

We aim to make a difference to the later lives of local older people, but we really can’t without the help of people like you – could you help us to help others?

We offer training, support and out of pocket expenses.

You would offer to help improve the quality of life of local older people, giving the help now that you may need your self in the future.

People just like you act as:-

  • ‘Information Officers’ providing information & support to older people with regard to benefits, care and a range of other issues.
  • ‘Sitters’ supporting the carers of older people with confusion or dementia for a few hours a week.
  • ‘Befrienders’ supporting an isolated or housebound older person – just chatting makes a difference.
  •  ‘Handypersons’ providing DIY help to older people around their homes.
  • ‘Luncheon club assistants’ helping serve and clear meals for older people at two weekday clubs.
  • 'IT tutors/supporters' helping older people to access the information and communication possibilities available through modern technology

Any one of any age can do it - all it takes is a couple of hours a week - and you really would make a difference to an older persons life.

To find out more about these services or to discuss offering your time, please ring Keith Sherman our Chief Officer on 01527 871840, or call in at our office at 51 Windsor Street and talk to any of our staff.

People like you do make a difference – please get in touch – help us make more of life for older people in the Bromsgrove District.
